What timing that I stumbled upon this article when I did. My mother is currently fighting a losing battle in the ICU right now, in fact, it’s what my last story published was based on. My heart goes out to you because as a critical care nurse I have performed post mortem care many more times than I would like to say, often times alongside the family and with many different cultural preferences. There is one consistent thing though; the stoicism seems to thread throughout each experience. The mind is an amazing thing. I am trying to prepare my own for what will certainly be the same but different.
